MBA PROGRAMES: TOP
One- and Two-year Full-time MBA Programs
Full-time MBA programs are typically designed for recent college grads, people not well-established in their current careers, or those looking to change careers. Full-time MBA students are usually those able to take out loans, qualify for merit scholarships, or personally finance their education. They remain out of the workplace during the length of their business school studies.
Two-year, full-time MBA programs
Typically run 21 months, offering accelerated coursework that covers essential business materials in less time overall than it would take students to cover during a part-time program. These programs often require a professional internship between school years, where you can create business contacts and integrate your classroom skills.
One-year, full-time programs
These are for students who already have significant business experience. These MBA programs focus on management skills, assuming that you already have the professional networking and extracurricular business skills covered during two-year school programs.
Part-Time MBA Programs
Most MBA students are not fresh out of college, and have professional and personal obligations that must be balanced with a college degree program. Part-time MBA programs are common throughout the country (and online), enabling working adults to qualify for new jobs or promotions without giving up their jobs or personal lives. Employers may be willing to finance part-time MBA degrees for their top employees, if it means not losing that employee's contribution at the office. And spreading the tuition costs over multiple years makes it easier for students to finance their degrees.
Online MBA Programs
If you've already launched your career or have family obligations, the online MBA may be your best option. Not only can advanced business study qualify you for higher-paying positions, but many employers are happy to partially or fully finance online MBA studies for their most promising employees. These programs are well-suited to working parents and career-track professionals; they are generally available part-time, though they are often accelerated.
Online business schools offer accelerated, streamlined, self-paced programs to meet the requirements of busy students who attend courses in their off hours. You can study finance, management, technology, or healthcare. These programs require self-discipline and commitment; they are not for people who lack motivation or time management skills.
Executive MBA Programs
Fast-paced executive MBA programs are offered at campus-based and online business schools. They're for seasoned managers or current executives who want to sharpen their expertise or add a new specialty to their existing knowledge. Some businesses will grant their employees time off to complete their executive training, and many will help to pay tuition. Campus-based executive MBA programs typically meet on weekends, whereas online courses meet on self-paced, flexible schedules. Most run under two years in length.
Other Master's Degrees in Business
For professionals seeking advanced, specialized training, there are related master's programs available online and on-campus. These include the Master of Accounting, Master of Information Technology and Commerce, Master of Finance, Master of Health Care or Hospital Administration, Master of Industrial Administration and much more. As with MBA programs, you can study full- or part-time

Credits used to fulfill the degree requirements of other Masters programs may not be transferred in for credit. Transfer credit will only be awarded for classes in which the student received a grade of “B” or better.
Due to the nature of the full-time MBA program, students in all full-time MBA programs may not transfer in any courses.
All requests for the transfer of credits must be completed by the first semester of a students program. Requests made after the completion of the first semester of coursework will not be approved.
To have coursework reviewed for transfer credit, students must submit a course description, syllabi and transcript from the course. Transfer credit is awarded at the discretion of the Master Programs Coordinator in conjunction with the Graduate Division.

A complete grading scale or system of evaluation is required, if not indicated on the official transcript. Transcripts must indicate any degree, diploma, professional title, certificate or other academic credentials received. If not, submit official copies and English translations of all academic credentials.
Note to Students from Certain South Asian Countries

Many applicants find that taking a review course helps improve their test scores. On exam day, ensure that you have directions to the test center and leave time to find parking; bring snacks and drinks with you in case no vending machines are accessible.

Student Visas
More than 100,000 international students are currently studying at universities, junior colleges, professional schools and other educational institutions in Japan. Their number has been increasing rapidly since the 1980s, with two thirds of the students coming from China.
Visa Matters
Tourist Visa
Short time studies at Japanese Language Schools are permitted on a tourist visa
If you are a citizen of one of the over 50 countries, with which Japan has concluded a "general visa exemption arrangement", you need only a valid passport in order to enter Japan as a "temporary visitor", otherwise, you need to apply for a visa before coming to Japan. Temporary visitors from most countries are allowed to stay in Japan for up to 90 days.
If you are a citizens of Austria, Germany, Ireland, Liechtenstein, Mexico, Switzerland or the United Kingdom, you have the possibility to extend your stay in Japan to a total of up to six months. You still initially enter Japan for 90 days, but can then apply for an extension at an immigration office in Japan.
Temporary visitors are not allowed to engage in any paid activities. Short term studies at Japanese language schools are permitted.
Travelers, who change airplanes or ships in Japan, may be eligible for a transit visa, which allows them to enter Japan for up to 15 days for sightseeing purposes, before proceeding to their final destination outside of Japan.
All foreign tourists in Japan are required to carry their passports with them at all times.
Student Visa
All other foreign student in Japan need a student visa in order to study in Japan. Visa applicants require an educational institution as their sponsor in order to obtain a student visa.
Student visa holders are not allowed to engage in any paid activities, unless they get the permission of the school and the immigration office. Even then, students may work only a set maximum number of hours per week. Working on a tourist visa is prohibited.
* Transit visa - (15 days).
* General visa - (up to 3 years). For cultural activities, students and trainees.
* Specified visa - (up to 3 years). Activities that are specifically designated by the Minister of Justice for foreign individuals. Eg. activities on the part of foreigners who wish to enter Japan as personal help privately employed by diplomats, consular representatives, etc.; foreigners who wish to enter Japan as a working holiday; foreigners who are employed by companies, etc. and are active as athletes in amateur sports and their dependent spouses and children; foreign lawyers engaged in international arbitration affairs, etc; university students engaged in internship activities.
Working Holiday Agreements: Based on bilateral agreements, working holiday programs permit young people (between 18 and 30 years of age) from the countries concerned who are visiting a partner country on vacation to engage in work so as to supplement their funds to travel and stay in that country. This provides them with an opportunity to get to know that country's culture and general lifestyle. At present, Japan has such working holiday agreements with 5 countries: Australia, Canada, France, New Zealand, and the Republic of Korea.
Visa Renewals
It will take around a week for your new visa to be processed. Visa renewals can be made up to 2 months prior to expiry of your current visa.
Certificate of Eligibility
The Certificate of Eligibility basically proves to the immigration bureau that you have fulfilled all the requirements to be issued the appropriate visa for the industry you wish to work in. This means that once you have the certificate you are eligible to receive your visa almost immediately. Tourists don't need this certificate.
Sponsorship
Immigration must know that the applicant will receive over a certain income amount each year. A company that promises this amount of money to the applicant is often referred to as the sponsor. If things don't work out with the company and you need to move on, a letter of release is required from your former company in order to renew your visa with the new sponsor. Your former employer is required by labour law to provide you with this. If you quit your job, your visa won't be taken away from you but you will need to find a new employer to take over the sponsor title when you renew or extend your visa.
SELF-SPONSORSHIP
Self-sponsorship is quite straight forward, especially if you are already living in Japan and have steady work. You have to show that you are guaranteed the minimum income required to support yourself in Japan. For example, contracts from 3 companies promising you payment may be required. Free consultations are available at immigration offices in Japan and they will help you prepare the necessary documentation. Self-sponsorship may be the best solution for you!
Getting a Visa Without a University Degree
If you can show a certain number of years relevant work experience you are eligible to apply for a visa that permits work. Each visa and industry has different requirements.
Working on a Student Visa
Students must first prove that they can support themselves without having to work in order to get the student visa. This includes getting a guarantor in Japan. Then to be eligible to work you have to go to the local immigration office and get special permission which takes the form of a new stamp! You can now work a certain amount of hours per month.
Important Notice
For anything visa related, it is probably a good idea to go in looking professional. Also, try to make copies of anything you submit to the visa office for future reference. Visa guys don't like discrepancies in the information you provide them from one year to the next, so copies can help make sure you are keeping consistent in your applications.
